- If you don’t already know, it’s been 40 years since Jaws was first released. It’s one of my all-time favourite films and one from my childhood that pretty much shaped the cinephile in me. Although there’s no news of a special 40th anniversary Blu-ray release, the film is however making a brief comeback in the cinemas this month in the US. There will be only four screenings , two for tomorrow June 21 and two more for June 24. Wish I could make hop on a flight to experience the movie on a big screen again. But here’s where you’ll find more details.
- Terry Gilliam is not only famous for being a member of Monty Python, but also for his film directing. But perhaps his most famous film is one that never got made. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote was seemingly jinxed from the get-go. Like George Lucas with Star Wars in Tunisia and Steven Spielberg with Jurassic Park, Gilliam and his set were also the victims of extreme weather. Not only that, his lead actor Jean Rochefort was injured and couldn’t go on. The project has been languishing in hell for the last couple decades or so. The whole sordid affair was also documented in the film Lost in La Mancha. But great news – it seems Gilliam has finally found interested parties to restart his “Don Quixote” film. Hopefully this time, the La Mancha Jinx has been laid to rest. Here’s where you can read more about it.
